Addressing the "new normal"
At Swain House we have been working hard to prepare to welcome resident guests to our rooms and to ensure that you can enjoy our facilities. The current situation remains far from normal and therefore we have taken the following precautionary measures to ensure that we meet the current government guidelines and so we are able to protect our customers and staff in line with them. We trust that you understand the need for such adaptations to our service and are reassured that we have taken measures to keep you safe and relaxed. Our precautions will be reviewed regularly to ensure that it remains in line with government guidance.
Feeling unwell
If you feel unwell, or have any of the symptoms of Covid-19: Fever or chills, Cough, Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, Fatigue, Muscle or body aches, Headache, New loss of taste or smell, Sore throat, Congestion or runny nose, Nausea or vomiting, Diarrhea—please do not try and "come to stay anyway".
Follow government advice. If you are ill at check-in, you will be asked to leave and seek emergency medical care.
Check-in
Because of social distancing issues during check-in, we ask that you please arrive at your chosen check-in time or call ahead to arrange another time so we know other guests will not be arriving all at the same time (this only needs to be a few minutes difference for your safety). We appreciate your help with this.
For your safety and the safety of our team, your luggage cannot be handled on arrival or departure.
Check-out
Please return the keys to the lounge table so we can antibac them. The remainder of the stay is payable on check-out by card.
Social Distancing
Please adhere to government guidelines on social distancing at all times. Please use the sanitise station on entering the building. If you can wear a face mask please do, although it is no longer a legal requirement to do so.
Breakfast
Since the governments ease on restrictions on July 19th 2021, breakfast will be served as normal—communally in the dinning room. All guests will be seated on the same large dining table as each other. Breakfast will no longer be served to the rooms.
Rooms
During your stay at Swain House, we will not enter your room. This means your room will not be turned (cleaned, beds made/towels picked up from the floor). If you are staying for a prolonged period of time, after a few days, we will ask if you wish us to turn your room. To do so we request you put all of your belongings in the draws/wardrobe/your cases, so we can antibac all surfaces. We will not touch any of your belongings. We will wear PPE to clean your room in this instant.

Customer Reviews
"A wonderfully comfortable boutique B&B in charming Watchet. The breakfast was great and we were very well looked after by Jason. Close to both Exmoor and the Quantocks this is an excellent bolt hole for those heading for the hills or escaping hectic urban life."
Richard Appshaw"Great place to stay, well appointed decor and attention to detail. Jason is an oracle of local knowledge - we enjoyed taking our fish & chips to eat into the pub Pebbles next door! Nice to see local businesses working together."
Rae Martin"The word boutique is overused these days but it absolutely applies to Swain House. It's calm, beautifully designed and well though out, and Jason is a fantastic host."
Sophie Harrison"Unusual. Comfortable. Clean. Helpful. Friendly. All in all a lovely place to stay."

Michael O'Shea"If you want to stay in style - this is the hotel. You would not expect this in a small town in Watchet. It is located in the centre of the town walking distance from the harbor where you can enjoy the coastal view, experience of retro southwest railway, and real local cider."
Tamae Osaka"A brilliant find - renovated with a lovely mix of old world charm and modern comfort. Beautiful fit out that made the stay feel quite luxurious. Jason was fantastic from the moment we arrived. Would recommend to anyone looking for a special place to stay. A friendly, boutique B&B with the privacy and feel of a small hotel. Loved it! We will be back."
Marianne & Dan Mewett"Fantastic boutique B&B the room was fabulous. The huge roll-top bath a sheer delight to submerge in and revel in the glorious bath toiletries. The ground coffee & choice of teas were really welcoming after brisk walks around the harbour and the treat of home made banana loaf added that extra special touch. The breakfast choice was sensational from cereals to full English with smoothies in between. It was lovely to see a vegetarian option as well plus different juices. The service could not have been better!"
